How to Add Copepods to Your Reef Tank
- Turn off your protein skimmer for 1-2 hours after adding - the skimmer will remove them before they can establish.
- Add at night with display tank lights off to reduce predation pressure.
- Target the refugium first - add the majority of the culture where they can reproduce without predation.
- Dose regularly - for mandarin dragonets, add fresh copepods weekly or bi-weekly while the refugium population establishes.
- Refrigerate unused portions to extend shelf life.

A mandarin dragonet requires a sustained, self-replenishing copepod population to survive long-term.
